My friend took me to this cute little place on Commercial Drive in Vancouver for Ethiopian food. Injera (a spongy, pancake-like bread) covers the plate with a sample of dishes arranged on it. You tear off pieces of the injera with your hands and use it to scoop up the dishes!
We ordered:
1. Original Veggie Combo
Served with injera, fresh carrots, beans, sautéed with spices, yellow split peas, red lentils, spinach and green cabbage.
2. Addis Veggie Combo
Shiro Wot (highly seasoned chickpeas in berbere sauce) with green cabbage and spinach, served with injera.

Yum! I love Ethiopian food. My favorite are the greens. Great photo too!

Oh shoot I thought you were talking about my Vancouver here in Washington
This sounds so delish. I recall my mom talking about Ethiopian food, we lived there when my dad was in the service. Unfortunately I was still just eating mooshed peas and jarred baby food.

Your blog is gorgeous!
I love the Commercial Drive area in Van. So many cool shops, cafes and restaurants…this one looks quite yummy. My family is from Ontario, but my oldest brother lives in the Commercial Drive area…it’s a great place to visit.

So wish we had an Ethiopian eatery in Scotland – maybe oneday – a number of Persian ones have open up recently, so its just a matter of time.
